Little Havana is the Cuban soul of Miami. Home to Miami’s Cuban immigrant population, this district celebrates Cuban culture and history and is one of, if not the, best places to explore in Miami.

ToggleCome hungry. This area is known for its fresh and delicious cuban food and drinks. Exploring Little Havana makes for the perfect place to do a food tour and learn all about the district and Cuban culture through the food, which – after all – is the best way to learn about a place or culture.

Little Havana is around 25 minutes from South Beach and the main drag of Ocean Drive. You can easily catch an uber, drive, or take the free city trolley ( it even has an app to use). Take a car if you want to venture to areas of Little Havana off the main street of Calle Ocho as it’s not as walkable.
We loved Little Havana, the main event in Little Havana is eating and drinking. So come hungry. You can easily see the main area in 2-3 hours.
Ok, so you’re sold on visiting Little Havana Miami? Now let’s go through a list of all the best things to do in Little Havana. Have you been here? Comment below about your favorite places and let us know anything we missed!
Your first stop in Little Havana should be coffee and what’s better than the great local Cuban coffee being ground in front of you at La Colada? The coffee is very robust and has such a rich flavor- loved it!
Is it always a good sign when you see food tours flocking to a place! After reading the story of Party Cake Bakery and learning it is run by Cuban immigrants we wandered into the bakery with delicious treats all around! We went with the guava puff pastry after the food tour guide recommended it, and our eavesdropping paid off! It’s delicious, although I can’t imagine anything at Party Cake is not wonderful.
Calle Ocho is the main street in Little Havana and a great area to wander in and out of shops and restaurants. It is a fairly small area to explore but is jam packed with shops, restaurants, bars, live music, street art, and more. There is plenty to see and do on Calle Ocho.
It is bound to be a sunshiny day in Miami and Azucar has the best local ice cream and an adorable retro ice cream sign to take a picture next to. It is easy to find right on Calle Ocho.
Domino Park is the perfect place to people watch and observe local life. You will see locals playing dominos in the small park (think more urban park than a typical park with plants and grass).
Hop in and out of the shops! There are lots of more touristy shops but is still fun for souvenirs. I found KCull Shop to be adorable, full of lots of local goods, jewelry, postcards, clothing, and other unique finds. Cuba Tobacco Cigar Co is a fun find for cuban cigars, they have so many choices and you can buy one cigar, a pack, or even a beautiful case with cigars- what a great souvenir. RC Gallery is an art gallery that is all made by local artists, they had lots of beautiful pieces to pick from.
The Walk of Fame is a path of stars on the sidewalk of Calle Ocho celebrating the famous Cuban artists including Celia Cruz, Julio Iglesias, and Gloria Estefan. Take a moment to look at the stars as you wander around Little Havana.
Ball and Chain has been in Little Havana since the 1930’s, before the area was known as Little Havana. Ball and Chain has live music, fresh mojitos, and great Cuban food as well! It is a great place to listen to live music- be warned it gets really loud where it is hard to talk but the lively atmosphere is fun! You can also enjoy the live music from the street as you are strolling past which is a great experience as wel
We ran out of time to go here but Union Beer looks so cute! It is a charming brewery on the Calle Ocho with a good variety of local beer and has a food truck to grab some eats and you enjoy your beer.
Little Havana is known for it’s wonderful Cuban Food and this is the number one must do in Little Havana- eat all the food! You really can’t go wrong in Little Havana, everything we had was delicious! I would highly recommend going on a Food Tour, they will go into the history and teach you all about Little Havana and the food. You will feel like you were transported to Cuba through the flavors of local cuisine. We did not do a food tour and I so wish we had. From the eavesdropping I did on the food tours they sounds like a great time!
Versailles is known for having the best food in Little Havana but it is a bit far off the main area. If you have a car or can catch a ride, I recommend making a stop here!
