Sustainable Travel Items to Take on Your Next Trip to Help Our Environment
There are so many easy things you can use when traveling that make a HUGE impact on our environment and wildlife. Here are four easy things to pack with you on your next trip to help you travel more sustainably and make exploring a breeze!
Travel water bottle– Did you know? Plastics take hundreds and even thousands of years to decompose and are very damaging to the environment and all animals in the ecosystem. In using a reusable water bottle you are reducing your plastic use and carbon footprint. Awesome, right?! Outside of being an ethical and sustainable choice they are so convenient when traveling! You will always have access to water when you are out exploring! You can even get water bottles that purify water when you are in a place where the water is otherwise unsafe to drink. I live by my water bottle and literally take it everywhere with me.
2. Reusable Straw
Reusable straw – Straws too can be damaging to our wildlife, particularly our marine life. They can get lodged in animals’ stomachs or even get stuck in their nostrils. The good news? You can so easily bring your own reusable straws with us everywhere we go and save the sea turtles and other marine life! This collapsible metal straw is complete with a mini straw cleaner and a case you can easily take with you everywhere. When you go to many coastal towns they will not allow plastic straws for good reason and with your metal or glass straw you will be prepared at all times!
3. Silicone Bags
Silicone bags – I LOVE the silicone bags. Once again they are cutting down on our plastic use, pollution, waste, saving ocean life that otherwise can choke on the plastic bags and all around good for our planet! They are also adorable, easy to clean, and carry your snacks with you on trips. You can use them while at home for lunches or storing food. You’ll absolutely loved them and prefer them over other food storage containers because they keep your food fresh and are easy to pack. Plus they are just so cute!
Reusable Shopping Bags
Reusable Shopping Bags – Plastic bags can be very harmful to the environment, increasing our waste and damaging wildlife, I think we’ve all seen the heartbreaking images of the sea turtles ingesting the plastic bags. These are a must when traveling if you adore markets like we do! We love bringing extra bags to use when shopping for souvenirs or food as well as overflow baggage if needed. Try to stick one in your day pack or purse when you are out in about incase you find a market to explore.
