Nago, Okinawa, Japan Day Trip Guide

Nago makes for the perfect day trip from Naha. There is plenty to fill a day and it is an easy trip from Nago.

I would recommend making Nago a day trip and basing yourself in Naha due to the fact it can be difficult to travel around Nago if you do not have a car.

You can take a bus or taxi from Naha to Nago for a jam packed day of Nago fun! We adored our time in Nago, here are some of our favorites from our time in Nago!

Churaumi Aquarium – Like so many aquariums so close to the ocean, the Churaumi aquarium was incredible and seemed to go on forever. This was a great stop to learn more about marine life while being able to experience them up close! Bonus for being great for kids and families too!

Tropical Dream Center – The Tropical Dream Center is walking distance from the aquarium and it is AMAZING!! I am a sucker for gardens and could have spent all day here.  They even have an orchid section which is just unbelievable. I have never seen so many orchids that are just breathtaking. What made the Tropical Dream Center so incredible was the variety of tropical plants that we rarely see in one place. You can go at your own pace and spend as much or little time there as you want.

Nago Pineapple Park – This was a blast- think vintage amusement park paired with fields of pineapples, exorbitant amounts of flora and fauna, a dinosaur exhibit, and topped off with amazing pineapple treats and souvenirs. Seriously SO much fun! You get to ride in an automated pineapple shaped cart though pineapple fields and then you can eat pineapple foods and shop all things pineapple! We left with some pineapple jam, pineapple wine which was just so fun, and a super cheesy pineapple cart souvenir picture we will treasure forever, haha! This is one of the more memorable experiences on our trip to Japan. Don’t think this is just for kids- we went just the two of us and LOVED it!

Head to the Beach – We were shocked by how lowly populated the beaches were. We felt like we were in on the best kept secret. The beaches have the softest sand and the most refreshing teal waters to swim in. You will be in paradise!

Catch the taxi or bus back to Naha for a bite to eat and tropical drinks to end a perfect day.

We hope you love your time in Nago like we did! Do you have any recommendations for Nago, let us know in the comments!

Happy Travels!
